From Hive to Jar: A Tour of Our Sustainable Beekeeping methods

Happy Bees – Caring for the Colony
We site hives away from pesticides, inspect regularly to confirm the queen, food and space. We monitor for pests.
Guard bees watch the entrance to defend against wasps, and we protect the colony in winter.

Foraging & Bee Life – A World of Colour
Worker bees become foragers and can travel up to 5 km to collect nectar, pollen, propolis and water.
Pollen colours—from blue to yellow, red or green—signal the different flowers the bees have visited
Bees see ultraviolet and favour blues, purples and yellows.
Our methods are about more than honey – it’s about bees, people and the land working together.
Below is a six‑step “tour” that lets you peek behind the scenes, understand our methods and see why sustainably‑produced honey tastes like childhood.

Monitoring & Timing – Knowing When to Harvest
Inspections focus on food stores, colony health, adequate space and confirming the queen health and activity.
We only harvest surplus honey and never empty supers without checking brood boxes, avoiding starvation or the need to overfeed supplements.

Spinning & Extracting – Gentle Harvesting
We uncap the wax, spin the frames and filter the honey. That's it nothing more, it's as natural as it can get. Returning the frames with the comb saves bees energy.

Pure Raw Honey – Nature’s Preservative
Raw honey’s high sugar and low moisture (14–18 %) stop bacteria and yeasts, so it doesn’t spoil.
Commercially heated honey loses enzymes.
We filter but never boil, keeping antioxidants and nutrients.
Important: Do not feed raw honey to infants under one year, their little stomachs aren't ready, See NHS for advice

From Hive to Jar – Sharing the Harvest
We jar honey in various sizes and label each batch with its apiary and season. Selling locally keeps food miles low and supports small beekeepers. Choosing our honey means backing ethical, sustainable beekeeping and enjoying complex, childhood‑like flavours. Taste the story of bees and tradition.
